Shane has appeared in all levels of court in Alberta and has been actively involved in numerous mediation and arbitration panels. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta in 2001, where he was part of the University of Alberta team in the Alberta Court of Appeal moot. Shanes initial degree was a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the University of Calgary, from which he graduated in 1997.

Shane joined McLeod Law LLP as an articling student in 2001, was called to the Alberta bar in 2002, and joined the partnership in 2008. He presents employment law seminars to local small and mid-sized businesses, and currently serve a variety of clients from individuals and small, local businesses to Western Canadian based corporations, providing advice and representation on all manner of litigation matters and contractual issues.

Shane is actively involved in the community as an on-call lawyer for the University of Calgary Law School’s Student Legal Assistance. For multiple years he was a coach in Calgary Minor Hockey and is currently a volunteer and Director with the Calgary Flames Ambassadors, a group of local individuals which has raised in excess of $7,000,000.00 for various community projects, including over $1,350,000.00 in the nine Celebrity Roast Events for which he was the Co-Chair. He has been voted in as Chair of the Calgary Flames Ambassadors as at June 4, 2013. Shane is also on the Board of Directors for the Calgary Flames Foundation, which provide in excess of $3.8 million in annual funding and support to Education, Heaalth and Wellness and Amateur and Grassroots Sports.

Shane is a past member of the Board of Directors of Calgary Meals on Wheels, having served an eight year term, and provides pro bono legal advice and services to athletes in regard to the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada, including representation at arbitrations and mediations.

Dave Patriarche founded Mainstay Insurance Brokerage in 1996 as a one-person shop specializing in providing employee benefits to small and mid-sized businesses in the Greater Toronto Area.

Dave is a strong believer in continuing education and recognized the need for the group insurance industry to broaden its efforts in this area. In 2003 he started a small networking group, which evolved into regular breakfast meetings across the GTA, then into regular educational seminars beginning in 2009.

Dave is recognized as a leader in the group benefits industry, an accomplished speaker at industry events and a contributor to various industry publications. He mentors and acts as an informal resource to benefit brokers, participates in industry think tank groups as well as panels such as; the Benefits Advisors’ Drug Plan Outlook, the Canadian Leadership Council on Drug Plan Partnerships.

Dave spends his spare time with his family and also enjoys taking groups sailing on Lake Ontario, the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas and has even crossed the Atlantic ocean in 2019.

Jason Watt (Business Career College)

Jason Watt is a full-time instructor at Business Career College, and before this he served in the Canadian Armed Forces. He has taught at the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre and the Canadian Forces Peace Support Training Centre. Jason has also served overseas on four operations with the Canadian Armed Forces. He is the principal author of the course texts in the BCC financial planning curriculum.

Jason is active in his community and serves on the boards of the South Alberta Light Horse Regimental Association, McLeod Community League, and two committees of the Financial Planning Association of Canada. He provides volunteer financial coaching services to program participants at the Centre to End all Sexual Exploitation and the Norwood Child and Family Resource Centre. He is working to bring a pro bono financial planning model to Canada.
