Since 2015, Mr. Berty has been the CDIPC’s Executive Director and is responsible administration of the corporation’s high-cost drug pooling mechanisms. During his 30+ years in the industry, Mr. Berty has provided executive leadership on a variety of transformational and industry wide initiatives including electronic claims, operations virtualization, offshoring, use of data analytics in fraud management, and risk analysis. Beyond his work for CDIPC, the consultancy he leads also provides expert advice on management consulting, group health and dental insurance to technology companies, insurers, foreign investors, and medical provider associations.

Anthony Feher A.S.A., B.Sc. has 33+ years’ experience specific to the Group Benefits business. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries with a strong technical and marketing background. Anthony started his group benefits career at Green Shield Canada, affording him the opportunity to see all facets of the Group Insurance industry, Green Shield's Internal workings, along with being introduced to both the brokerage and consulting communities. Anthony has dealt with groups of all sizes - from the small & mid sized group market, to association plans to large 20,000+ life employers. Anthony has written and maintained the Health & Dental Insurance Renewal Systems for two large Canadian Insurers. Looking for the "perfect fit" Anthony moved to the consulting side, working at niche consulting houses, and eventually starting his own consulting practice in 2003 - AF Group Benefits. Anthony partners with Insurance experts who offer Group Benefits but need the technical expertise, reporting and service to maintain and grow their business. He is passionate about clients’ understanding of their benefit plan, ensuring the proper pricing and coverages to meet the needs of the company and their employees. When not working he is a devoted husband & father to his two now adult children (and welcoming a son-in-law this February), loves to golf (with middling results), is a fan of almost all sports & pop culture, and binge watching Netflix, Prime, Disney & Crave while on his spinning bike.

He is an strong advocate for sustainable and inclusive employee benefits practices and throughout his career has garnered recognition for his commitment to supporting a positive workplace culture and prioritizing employee well-being.

Matt brings a unique perspective as an employer. With a focus on leveraging expert advice to enhance employee benefits and streamline administration, Matthew will share insights into how working with brokers has evolved over his career and what he believes are key factors to consider when engaging with client in the not-for-profit and healthcare sectors.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Matthew finds joy in spending quality time with his wife with whom he has explored the world, and two wonderful daughters. His commitment to work-life balance is reflected not only in his work but in the fulfillment, he finds in the relationships he nurtures at home. In his leisure time, Matthew is an avid sports enthusiast. Whether on the ice playing hockey, participating in a friendly game of slo-pitch, or enjoying a round of golf, he embraces the camaraderie and physical activity these pursuits bring.

Dave Patriarche founded Mainstay Insurance Brokerage in 1996 as a one-person shop specializing in providing employee benefits to small and mid-sized businesses in the Greater Toronto Area.

Dave is a strong believer in continuing education and recognized the need for the group insurance industry to broaden its efforts in this area. In 2003 he started a small networking group, which evolved into regular breakfast meetings across the GTA, then into regular educational seminars beginning in 2009.

Dave is recognized as a leader in the group benefits industry, an accomplished speaker at industry events and a contributor to various industry publications. He mentors and acts as an informal resource to benefit brokers, participates in industry think tank groups as well as panels such as; the Benefits Advisors’ Drug Plan Outlook, the Canadian Leadership Council on Drug Plan Partnerships.

Dave spends his spare time with his family and also enjoys taking groups sailing on Lake Ontario, the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas and has even crossed the Atlantic ocean in 2019.

Joanne Patriarche (VP Human Resources)

Joanne has over 30 years experience working as a Human Resources professional in manufacturing and financial services organizations. In her most recent role, she was the Vice President, Human Resources, for Apotex, Canada’s largest pharmaceutical company. Joanne held a variety of HR roles over her career including managing the health and benefits programs for over 6,000 employees. She has an Honours BA from the University of Western Ontario (now Western University), an HR Management Diploma from Seneca College and has completed a variety of professional development including in coaching, employment law, employee relations and as a Certified Compensation Professional. Joanne is a big believer in supporting and learning through volunteering. She is currently a Director with Hands Across the Nations charity, and prior to that was a Crisis Support Volunteer with Victim Services of York Region. She has recently retired and is a proud first time Grandma.
